Hypnoanalgesia for children
The use of hypnosis with children for analgesia
About hypnosis
The word hypnosis refers to a modified state of consciousness. It is in this state that it is possible to acquire new capabilities and develop deep resources. In this sense hypnosis is an effective tool for the implementation of analgesia.
About hypnoanalgesia
Often confused with anesthesia, which refers to the total absence of pain, analgesia is the reduction of pain up to tolerable thresholds. Hypnoanalgesia is therefore the reduction of pain by using hypnosis.
Hypnosis to be in good health and the creation of analgesia
This hypnotic method is intended to help pain problems in children in case of injury (fractures, sores of any kind), burns, to make bites, clean or sew wounds.
Note that pain should not be completely suppressed by hypnosis as it represents the body's way of indicating that something is wrong.
For this reason, hypnoanalgesia is preferable to hypnoanesthesia in many cases, with the exception of some clinical examinations that require an invasive protocol or in some studies in dentistry that may injure or jeopardize the safety of the child.
Use of hypnosis for hypnoanalgesia in children.
According to London and Cooper in 1969, children have hypnotic receptivity similar to the best adult subjects and, according to Hidalgo in 1979, these qualities are due to their age-appropriate imagination and creativity. As such and to maximize the child's abilities, our hypnotist, specialized in hypnosis for children will make sure to stay simple in order to obtain and maintain the child's motivation.
The approaches used with children combine to form a mix of direct and indirect suggestions, favoring the former, that for more efficiency adapt to the age and language of the youngest.
