Support A Loss Of A Loved One

Feelings of guilt, anger, despair, and fear are common. A grieving person may yell to the heavens, obsess about the death, lash out at loved ones, or cry for hours on end. Your loved one needs reassurance that what they feel is normal. Don't judge them or take their grief reactions personally.

What are the stages of grief?

The five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, deep sadness and acceptance are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. They are tools to help us frame and identify what we may be feeling. But they are not stops on some linear timeline in grief.

What is a grieving process?

Grief is a natural response to loss. It might be the loss of a loved one, relationship, pregnancy, pet, job or way of life. Other experiences of loss may be due to children leaving home, infertility and separation from friends and family. The more significant the loss, the more intense the grief is likely to be.

Here is the grief model we call the Stages of Grief:

  • SHOCK & DENIAL- You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. ...

  • "DEEP SADNESS", REFLECTION, LONELINESS- ...

  • THE UPWARD TURN- ...

  • RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH- ...

  • ACCEPTANCE & HOPE...

How does hypnosis work for Grief and Loss?

Using hypnosis to assist you in your grieving process can help especially if you are feeling stuck. This doesn’t mean that hypnosis can eliminate grief or sadness, it is quite important to experience the stages so that your mind can appropriately process the loss.

Hypnosis can help you move through the stages with a better understanding and help you to physically and mentally feel more calm and relaxed. It can help with the stress and anxiety associated with grief and loss such as sleep issues and lack of appetite. Even through our grief we still need to maintain a reasonable level of good health.

Hypnosis is excellent help for bereavement, because the techniques are able to teach you how you can consciously decide to think a certain way about your loss. Your mind is powerful, and changing its thought patterns from grief stricken sadness and anger to love and memories can go a long way toward help with bereavement. Through grief hypnosis, you will still have your memories – but they will be less charged with painful feelings, allowing you to be able to talk openly, should you wish, without the fear of being overcome by gushing emotions.

As a  hypnotist, I am experienced in a number of techniques which provide you with helping and, in certain circumstances, with closure.

Hypnosis helps you to begin to move on, to begin to live your life again and to learn to enjoy yourself once more without feeling guilty. It allows you to find ways to remember the person (pet) you have lost, and to still feel that they are part of you and part of your life.

Don't let the grief affect all your life...
