Address children's problems with hypnosis
The many publications on the use of hypnosis in children, suggest that they are usually good hypnotic subjects.
It seems that by their age and their capacity for imagination children have a facility for hypnosis comparable to that of the best adult hypnotic subjects; conclusions of London and Cooper (1979).
Some researches like those made by Morgan & J. Hilgard in 1979, make us understand that in some cases as soon as the child reaches the age of adolescence hypnotic abilities tend to decline, this may be due to needs of rationalization, realism and adaptation specific to this period of adaptation to adult life.
However, it is important to note that although children have abilities similar to those of the best subjects in hypnosis it is imperative to adapt Hypnotic approaches in order not to meet any resistance and use games, metaphors, accounts, indirect inductions using toys, dolls (teddies, stuffed toys).
According to Olness and Gardner in 1988, for children from 6 years and above it seems effective to imagine special places, to set up situations with characters or imaginary animals, to propose to visualize a blackboard where it will be possible to discover blank letters, tell stories or project into a garden with flowers or on a favorite TV show.
If the benefits of Hypnosis are innumerable in the help of many difficulties affecting children, it is still necessary to discuss with their parents in order to explain the principles of the work under hypnosis in order to disperse the misconceptions that circulate about the subject. Hypnosis (Gardner 1974).
